This pass-only, no-fail, interactive online course has seven short sections with quizzes after each section. You can take it using a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

If you are 70+ years of age, the DL renewal process – including taking the open book no-fail eLearning course – can be started online.

If you haven’t already upgraded to a REAL ID, now is the perfect opportunity to do so.
Most 70+ drivers are eligible for eLearning. In the Virtual Test Center portion of your renewal application, select “I want to take my test through the Online eLearning Course.”
Follow the application fee payment steps. Upon successful payment, you will receive an email confirmation with a link to access the eLearning course, which you can take from home.
When you finish the last lesson, the online course will notify you that you completed it and instruct you to visit a local DMV office to complete the application.
Please allow one business day for payment to show on your record before visiting a DMV office for a vision test.
If you are under 70, you may renew your DL online if your renewal notice says you are eligible. How to renew online:
You’ll be asked to log in. If you don’t have a DMV account, you will need to create one by clicking the create an account link.
After you’ve logged in to your account, you will simply follow the instructions. When you have finished, pay the renewal fee. It’s that simple.
